My Handmade Goodies!

Check It Out!!!

to friends, office supplies and the computer

What's up guys? I'm chillaxing at home. Hope your Mothers Day was fantastical! DerRick took me out to eat and Kody gave me a cecklace, flowers and a card ^----------------^ I'm a happy momma and Kody was so proud of himself! It was real nice.

I decided to do a page today! First in months but it's ok yes? I decided to go back to doing one story at a time. It sounds like I'm in kindergarten but to actually have a plan really helps a sista :)

So...the first story was of my son Kody relaxing in his unique and 'Kody' way...upside down ^-----^

upside down + lazy afternoons

Relaxed2

Sorry about the shadows  and dark photos :) This is a hybrid layout. I did the backround stripes + journaling on the computer and the rest is traditional. It felt good to do a page...yeah...

PRODUCTS USED: PP: October Afternoon, NRN Designs; Journaling spot stamp: 7Gypsies; Word tag stickers: Making Memories; Rub-on borders: Narratives; Pen: American Crafts

The winner will get May's kit from Dixie Pieces! I hope you all join in today...or tomorrow is fine LOL!!!

I also did an album last week for the latest word on OLW. It's Gigi's word and she chose TODAY. So today I'm going to show you my take LOL!!!

today you, today I, today we, to day was, today is, today life...

40 pages so far of  goodtimes. I like  the fact  that it's so simple. I used repetitive elements + cards throughout the album. It has a formula, if you will, that's made up of these 5 cards...

Tycards

I used these in the same order all through the  album and I LOVE them! I used a library card just like the second one from the right on a thank you card that has not yet reached it's destination. But when It get there I'll show you guys! I got these office and library cards from my dear friend Essensevibez!!!!! LOVE YOU!!!!! Check out her blog too because she has a slammin' RAK going on and an awesome interview with the talented Vee!!!!!

So yeah...I'm going to put some cards I made up in my shop later. I'm in the mood to create some journals but um...I'm graphically crippled at the moment. It's sincerely official...my Wacom tablet had died. Now I know I mentioned it in my last post but I still had hope. I plugged it in...hit it...took it to the kitchen and dropped it on the floor. Hoping to shake it into working again. But no...it's gone. If I had 40 oz I'd spill some for it. Such a sad, sad time...

Wd

Well, I better be outta here. My neck feel TONS better by the way. So glad of that because I was like man! Thanks for the wishes guys  ^--------^

The Good and the Pain in the Neck

Long time no post hu? ^------^ I hope you guys can bear with me. I feel like I'm in multiple places at once! Lots of things going on and I'm trying to keep up :)

I wanted to send a big thanks to you guys for dealing with my absent booty and for all the love. Sweet the emails guys! ...thanks.

Not so sweet...I have a HUMUNGO pain in the neck! Literally. I think I'm going to have to make another trip to the doctor. I thought it was just one of those kinks or pinched nerve from sleeping wrong but nah...this is like deeper and more hurtful than that ^----^ I feel like I have an invisible neck brace on...or at least I look like it LOL!!! Oh well...I suppose I'll see how this goes.

Now If you can take a look over to your left...you will see a that there's a new list of goodies! Yippy! Finally have some new journals up in my Etsy shop! And for those of you who received newsletters with some pictures missing...um? Yeah...my bad LOL!!!!! Gotta get the hang of that :) Here's a picture of all of the new journals together.

Allaboutpatterns

I've been inspired by patterns lately. I like how a design can be repeated and make something really cool! I'm just getting started and just glad to be back! Now...I'm not going to talk shop that much here because I'm working on the shop blog. I want it to be a separate place for different kinds of inspiration ^----^

Speaking of inspiration; have you checked out Ali's blog lately??? I mean HELLO!!!! Love all the new things she is doing with her Words + Photos week! I'm tellin' ya what...you know how go to church and you feel like the preacher is talking directly to you? That's how I feel when I read her posts. Lately I'm like dude...that's what I'm going through. And the tips about photo storage and journaling hit the spot! I have that journaling program MacJournal and haven't really used it. Just yesterday, after reading her posts on how she handles journaling, I  opened it up, got all my topics down and started to write. You guys it felt so good. I feel like I'm  on a new and effective path to enjoying my scrapbooking to the fullest. I believe in a comment I made on her post I put that journaling was a huge struggle of mine. It is very much so and when I look back at my pages, some of them seem empty. It makes me so sad. So...as far as scrapping goes I'm making a STEP. I'm going to journal everyday. Not be shy...get it all out then tell a story. One at a time.

I hope all this new found inspiration turns into more pages. However...my life isn't complete with a bit of irony! Today I ready this post on her blog. She talked about using a Wacom tablet to add words and such to layouts. Love doing that myself right. How come my tablet died today????? I mean really...ain't that a trip? I guess I twirked it too hard! It's was my road dog but I suppose it had to burn out sometime hu? LOL!

I hope you guys have a creative weekend! I'm going to get down to business and scrap for me.

wooo hooo + something new

Hey! Back s soon? Yes I am LOL!!! You know, I've been itching to get started on the Orlando album but I'm like dude...that's a grip of photos. And you know how it is...can't part with one of them!!! So I decided to send in a CD into Shutterfly. My girl Stephanie convinced me so yeah...very exited to get those back and get crackilackin'!

Now on the creating topic...I made some more journals! Love them! I hope you all do too. Starting off simple and sweet yes? I'm trying to get everything done before the new week comes along. I also have some fantastical news...my FIST STAMP SETS have arrived at Kesi'art!!!! I'm like jumpin' in my chair here folks. Here's a look at them.

Mystampsset
I know it's hard to see them here but they are a mixture of typed text and my own handwriting. The subjects are photography and vacation ( how fitting right about now :) They have a French spin to them and I can't wait for them to arrive in the mail! Kesia will have them for sell soon so I will let you know when...THANKS GIRL!!!. Crazy....

Now I gotta go once again. The kids keep trying to feed me imaginary cake! LOL!!! I better have a bite ^---^

Hi Guys!!!!!

I'm back!!!! We had a wonderful time! Kody met Mickey + Minny and that was just too cool! He looked scared the whole time and then when we left his house he jumped around like a monkey yelling "Mickey, Mickey...yay Mickey!!!!!"  Kody felt the magic for sure and that was really important to me. He came back with autographs and all sorts of Mickey-fied things. It was a blast! The best part is watching him and my sister, Chelsea, enjoying Disney World together. SO many pictures took ya know? Here are some of them...

Orlando2008

Now the other reason I was there was to watch my brother's cheer team compete. This was Worlds and I was so freakin' nervous. Almost as bad as if I was about to go on myself. They were going up against 57 other teams and they got SECOND!!!!!!!! My bros team is 2nd in the world...wooooo hoooooooooo!!!!!! I almost peed my pants I was so exited! I'm so proud of him and his team! They worked it out like in real life ^-----^

Well...I gotta get crackin' on some stuff. The new shop blog and a newsletter yes? And this album is definitely on the top of my list too!  No rest for the weary LOL!!!!...just kidding :)

All I Need!

So yeah... haven't been the traveler for some years. I'm not the one to take laptops, printers or even ready made albums with me. I would love to do all that but ya know how it is ^-----^

So for the Floriday trip I made this little cuttie...

Mickeyjournal1
Mickeyjournal2

Write all that goes down now and make the album later on! We're all set! See you guys in a bit!!!

Health, Technology, Crafts + Leisure

So yes...it's me! can you believe it? A whole month early on my post!!!! LOL!!!

I went to the doctor yesterday for my allergies. I just couldn't take it anymore. Had to rub my eyes about 80% of the day! I mean man...Now I ave to take these everyday

Medslikeamug

Dude...I'm like what? This is probably not even all that much on the grand scale of things but It's just I never took more that one medication before other than the times I was pregnant. Ok...let me digress ^-------^

I must say it is nice being able to crop pictures and upload things without waiting for longs periods of ridiculous time.

Memory

Yeah...I had no problems forgetting these! They are my old sticks of RAM. Both 512MB sticks which together ='s 1GB. I replaced them with 1 x 1GB stick and 1 x 2GB stick maxing out my RAM capacity of 3GB's of RAM. I know it's sounds crazy but Ol' Bessy needed makeover :) Just one more tech note: I have a Core 2 Duo processor which technically takes up to 4GB of ram. But in reality it only reads 3GB's. RAM comes in on a stick at either 512MB, 1GB or 2GB and  my laptop has two slots that hold one stick. So it was my choice to have a combo of 1 + 2 or  2 + 2. Some say that it's always good to have a matching pair when upgrading your RAM. Which in my case would mean I would do the 2 x 2 option but sacrifice 1GB. Some say there is little difference if any and the price is a big factor. .......Ok......so I sound like a total geek but if you're thinking about upgrading REMEMBER TO ASK YOUR HUSBANDS ADVICE FIRST! LOL!!! ( it will make him feel special :)

On to more crafty things...

Way back I had received this

Atccards

Notice how the ATC cards are blank and so few. Well, I have yet to dilly dally & play with them. I pulled this out and was exited then I'm looking around like a headless chicken trying for find the rest of the cards. I had a grip + black ones too! I'll find you my pretties...I'll find you all Ha ha haaaaaaaaa

Even way backer than that...I got ultra crafty and sewed quilts for the fam. This was before I nearly severed my freakin' finger off with a rotary cutter tryingto make tooth fairy pillows...

Quilt_1

This one is Kody's and also the first one I did. Had High ambitions and drive so that's why it's the largest of the three LOL!!! He has his initials stamped with Making Memories paint and letter foam stamps in the corner. DDD...his real name is Dakoda :)

Quilt_3

a little smaller now  LOL!!!!  Now this one for DerRick  was a doozy! It took a LONG time and a LOT of thread. It doesn't show here but those are individual rectangles and along with sewing in ALL the seams, I sewed rectangles inside each one of the rectangle patches. I was Like what in the WORLD did I get myself into! But I tell ya what...it's one sturdy quilt!!!

Quilt_2

I made two of these for the girls. They are the same accept for the initials and the quilting on the back. Kennedy has flower stitches and Chloe' has stars ^-------^

Speaking of quilting...this is basically like the tile technique using paper that I explained on this OLW post.

here

Love putting different patters together like this. Very cool + fun! There is a new word up on OLW too! It's Jessi's word 'GROW'. Here's my take on it...

Grow

Grow2

"Whatever you vividly, ardently desire, sincerely believe and enthusiastically act upon...must inevitably come to pass. -Paul J. Meyer

I ended up putting this up on my scrap wall. I like looking at it and knowing that if you dream and go for it will happen. It's experience and growth all along the way. I hope you join in with us!!!!

PRODUCTS USED: PP, Black + green cardstock: Lotus Paperie April Kit; Butterfly punch: Martha Stewart Crafts; Crystals: Micheals Art's and Crafts; Marker: Stampin' Up!; Fonts: Bickham Script Pro, ATFantiqueL; OTHER: Machine stitching.

So a big surprise for my little dude and my Brother too. I made a post while ago about how my brother quite coaching cheerleading. I was like in a funk for days but I should have known he would be back at it!!! So this weekend is Worlds in Orlando.

Dw

...and Kody & I are so there! Mickey hear we come!!! I want Kody to feel the magic just like I did when I was young. I can't even tell it in words. I also hope Matt's team devastates! This Friday is the day we take off. So exited :)

Before I go I wanted to ask you all something...
Save
What are you all saving your dollars and cents for as of right now? To be honest I'm saving up for two things. Some trees, flowers and all that jazz for the house. (that mess is expensive!) not to mention bug filled and pollen filled and oh man...I don't even want to think about. Why does anything good come with such drastic consequences? I'd also want to one day get a flat screen tv. Our 1922 model is chunky and way out of date LOL!!! It's literally 20 inches deep. That's almost TWO FREAKIN' FEET!!!! And it's crampin' my style ^----^ So yeah...that would be nice. As far as scrapping goes; I would like one of these...

Yhst56935576670441_1998_5190513

This Zutter Dreamkuts machine would make is a ton easier to cute papers for miniBOOKS and journals. It cuts a single sheet into any size pages you need. Of course you gotta crank it. Maybey I should wait for the upgrade LOL!!!!! An upgrade on my brown flower floors wouldn't be a bad idea either. However, the quilts looked extra comfy while laying on it hu? Teee heeeeeeeeeeeeeeee...

Check back soon guys,

-peace

Inch and and an itch...

Ok...Ok...so it's official. I wait entirely too long in-between posts and to not hear from me for about a month at a time is obvious LOL!!! I've just been having one of those years so far I suppose. I have things to do and that's a good thing. I like having things to keep me going. If I stay in one place than I feel dull, slow and sluggish.

However, at this moment I'm feeling sneezy, sniffly and itchy! I have allergies and they are kicking me from one end of the room to the other. Dude...my right eye is having it's own little party in it's socket LOL!!! I told my self under my breath that my eye was going to fall out and as I'm  rubbing it ferociously Kody says " Your eye is going to fall out?" So for fun I egg him on and say..." yeah...ow...It's going to fall out any time....wait...oh no......"
And I bend over and grab at my eye then close it. I then turn to Kody and ask him if he would take it and put it back in for me. He he was so confused, scared and grossed out all at the same time. He held out his hand like ok???? and I went to put it in his hand with my eye still closed, he backs away but still keep his hand out. I bust out laughing!!!! Ha HAAAAAAAAAA....I couldn't hold it in nor see him suffer any more. He was about to help is poor mommy put her eye back in her head teee hee heeeeeee....Well, fortunately he wasn't scarred for life. Instead his silly butt roared all over the place too. Then the girls joined in for the sake of it and I lost about ten pounds after all that. Laughing is good medicine yes...and a great weight loss system! LOL!!!!

Ok...now I've been MIA from the bloggy blog ( like what else is new ^----^ ) and I've also been out of the Shop scene as well. For those of you who haven't read; My Etsy shop used to be filled with goodness for days. Until one day my spaghetti fingers deleting ALL of my designs! Not a lick of anything was left...logo...nada! So I was like.....

whoa...

And so I had to kind of temporarily close up shop and start a-new. I think think it all happened during the time I was deleting any file I could because Photohsop told me I didn;t have enough RAM to crop a freakin' photo. I was like WWWWWWHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAATTTTTTTTTTTTTT????????????????? Yes you guys...a sista didn't have enough RAM to do anything anywhere. I was going to cry and jump out my window but then I calmed down and investigated the situation. This is what I found out...

1.) I have a Mac Book OS X Version 10.4 .......the white one.

2.) It has a 2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor with 1 GB of memory (or RAM).

3.) Her name is Ol' Bessy...hey, gotta name the gal. It's only natural :)

4.) She had been acting slow lately especially when loading up Photoshop CS2

5.) I had WAY to many photos. Not going to reveal how many just know it was a lot! LOL!!! So I figured that was the problem. Burned then erased them. In fact...I erased everything apparently LOL!!!

6.) I had a little bit more fluidity while in Photoshop but it still took a very long time to open.

7.) I ran the  Activity Monitor on her. Found out that when Photoshop was running I only had about 12-15 MB of memory freed up. ( holy cow!!! ) That's not even enough to remember to flush the toilet!!!

8.) I was aware I was in trouble.

9.) Went into denial mode and brushed the whole situation off.

10.) Downloaded a couple of Photoshop goodies because they were so rad and went to crop a photo. I got the Not enough Disk Space or RAM to finish the action.

11.) Back into reality and off to the Apple store I went. And they told me, in a nutshell, that although Macs are for the graphic designer...the one I got is not too snazzy for running Photoshop and other programs specifically when ran together. He said the silver ones are more geared for that and an external hard drive would be fantabulous to store all my photos. Well, I'm a little agitated at this point because when I when I was looking for a Mac laptop and told the employee exactly what I was going to be using it for; the 'white' one was dandy then. Grrrrrrrrrr....so I was stubborn, went home and started doing my own research.

12.) My computer said RAM and he said External Hard Drive or EHD. I was like hu??? Is that the same thing? And the answer is no.

"RAM can be compared to a person's short-term memory and the hard disk to the long-term memory. The short-term memory focuses on work at hand, but can only keep so many facts in view at one time. If short-term memory fills up, your brain sometimes is able to refresh it from facts stored in long-term memory. A computer also works this way. If RAM fills up, the processor needs to continually go to the hard disk to overlay old data in RAM with new, slowing down the computer's operation. Unlike the hard disk which can become completely full of data so that it won't accept any more, RAM never runs out of memory. It keeps operating, but much more slowly than you may want it to." - Search Mobil Computing

And then A External Hard Drive is the thing that stores all your files like digital pages and pictures for intense. You would get one of these to have more storage which in turn frees up space on your computers hard drive.

13.) So after putting two-and-two together, I knew that getting more RAM would be the proper solution because it's not about storing files, it's about running programs and all the stuff that comes with them. Even then I had to learn all about RAM. The different types, brands, amounts...all that stuff. If your looking to get more RAM or an EHD then do your homework and ask around. Although Macs are VERY awesome machines, some are great for "...this ART thing we do." and some are not. Don't make the mistake i did ^-----^  Oh...and BTW, Photoshop CS2 is ruff on your computers memory. Much more than CS3. So keep that in mind too :)

Alrighty. I hope I gave at least one of yall some good insight because that was a lot of typing good Lord LOL!!!

I'm exited to extend my typing to another blog! I'm finally going  ahead with my Shops Blog!!! It will be up soon and if all goes as planned then you'll  be able to purchase items right from the blog as well. So I'm really exited about it! Here are images at some of what's coming...

Catching Up :)

Hey guys! I didn't get the chance stop by Monday, sorry about that :(  The in-laws came and it was a lot of fun! I was stressing out big time the whole week before though. I wanted everything to be ready for when they arrived. It was kind of a big deal because this is our first home and all that. You all know what I mean ^----^ It was real cool. Here are some shots of our home WITHOUT the cardboard boxes LOL...

Home_2

I had fun with the wall mural :) I wanted to keep adding stuff but I think Ill keep it like this...for now LOL!!! I went with the blue and browns. I actually meant it to tun out more light and beachy but it turned out deep and rich. I'm liking it ^----------^

We took pictures in the backyard. I acted like I was a photographer LOL!!!! DerRick's sister and cousin played along! It was fun! His cousin, Shea is expecting her first baby girl and so I took the curtains from the girls windows and drapped her in them. Put a silk flower in her hair and she was beautiful...

Preciousbaby

It was also my girls BIRTHDAY onthe 11th! It was cool that the Derrick family got to celebrate with us! We went to Chuck E Cheeses again! Hey...they love that place ^-----^

Hb

I hope you guys are having a creative week thus far ^----^  I finally got some American Crafts photo albums. I haven't had an album in over two years. I was in a world of hurt with my layouts stacked up on top of one another. It was shameful...really. So I stopped by Hobby Lobby and snagged me three of them!!! I got one 1/2 off because it was outside the package already and the inner page protectors were bent. I was like ILL TAKE IT!!!! I added some book plates to the lower spine of my albums. Sincerely easy to do. I used bookplates + brads from Making Memories and punched holes in the spine. I backed it with some scrap paper I had lying around and I was done lickety split!

Bookplate

Of course adding some cool font would have been awesome but a sista is relaxing tonight LOL!!!! I'm just happy my pages have a home now :) Speaking of scrap pages...

Beenawhile

I've had the most coolest opportunity to be the guest on All Moments Remembered forum! The gals were so sweet and I had a lot of fun! I was chatting so that I didn't do any of the challenges LOL!!!! I'm also the April guest designer ^-----^ I had a blast with the kit!!!
